The FemRise Project aims to transform societal perceptions of gender by equipping youth workers with the necessary skills to challenge stereotypes and promote equality across six countries.
The project focuses on capacity building by providing youth workers with training and resources to effectively address and dismantle harmful gender narratives. It also employs innovative outreach methods such as Newspaper Theatre, online campaigns, and community events to engage the public and stimulate discussions on gender roles. Through community engagement, the project organizes interactive performances and social media initiatives to empower young voices and encourage community involvement in reshaping gender perspectives. Ultimately, FemRise seeks to create a more inclusive society by fostering critical thinking and active participation, where traditional gender roles are re-examined, and equality is embraced.

As part of the Erasmus+ FemRise project, this dynamic training was led by our partner Art Fusion in Bușteni, Romania, bringing together youth workers and change-makers from Lebanon, Portugal, Egypt, Jordan, Romania, and Tunisia.
The training focused on building the capacities of youth workers to address gender-based violence and dismantle harmful gender stereotypes using innovative and creative approaches—most notably through the Newspaper Theatre method.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in deep-dive discussions on gender-based violence in their respective contexts and explored systemic challenges. The use of theater as a medium for advocacy allowed for powerful, performative reinterpretations of narratives, encouraging participants to reflect, question, and creatively reframe dominant discourses.
Beyond the structured sessions, the training fostered meaningful intercultural dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing solidarity across borders and backgrounds. The learning outcomes extended beyond individual development to include concrete tools and ideas for community engagement.
Building on this experience, OFFBEAT will adapt and implement key components of the training in Lebanon, integrating theatrical advocacy and awareness campaigns into local programming to reach youth, educators, and communities across the country.
